Aspirations are an inseparable part of a human’s life. They give us something to hope for and look forward to. They inspire us to do better and be better. And while it is good to have aspirations, we should be careful not to let them consume us.
It is easy to get caught up in the idea of what we want to achieve and forget about the present moment. We can become so focused on our goals that we lose sight of the joy in the journey. We can become so fixated on becoming somebody that we forget to enjoy being ourselves.
The expectations we have for ourselves can have a significant impact on our habits and lifestyle. They provide us with something to strive for and keep us motivated. However, rather than focusing on someone else’s opulence, we should concentrate on our own.
We should aspire not to be but to do.
To aspire is too long for something with great eagerness or ambition. It is to have a strong desire to achieve something that is difficult or unlikely. When we aspire to something, we set our sights high and reach for the stars. We dream big and think big because we believe that anything is possible.
When we aspire to be something, we are focusing on an end goal. We have a specific image in mind of what we want to achieve and who we want to become. We may have always wanted to be a doctor or an engineer or a lawyer or an artist or a writer. Or maybe we just want to be rich and famous. Whatever it is, when we aspire to work that will lead us to the end goal. Hence, instead of aspiring to be something, we need to aspire to do something.
What if we focused on the journey and not just the destination?
What if we strived to do our best and be our best every single day?
If we aspire to do instead of being, we will never be disappointed because we would have given it our all. We would have no regrets because we would have tried our hardest. And even if we don’t achieve our end goal, at least we would have enjoyed the process.
